The LPIE Endowment provides LPIE with a continuing and sustainable funding source that will expand and enhance the quality of public education in Lafayette, now and for generations to come.

The LPIE Endowment protects our schools from the impacts of budget cuts, unforeseen challenges, and economic uncertainties.

Over the last 40 years, Lafayette’s public schools have become some of the highest rated in the state, thanks in large part to our community’s support of LPIE and other local funding sources. However, the unreliability of state funding year after year makes it increasingly challenging to sustain the robust education that every student deserves.

Our initial goal is to raise $12 million. $12 million is just the start. The ultimate goal is for the endowment to grow independently so that eventually, the annual return on investment is sufficient to address the instability of public school funding. The LPIE Endowment will:

  1. Serve as a stable and consistent cornerstone of LPIE’s vital annual fundraising.

  2. Provide the flexibility to strategically respond to emergent challenges, new possibilities, and innovative programs in our public schools.

  3. Create a long-term, self-sustaining revenue source.

Our governance and financials.

Our volunteer Endowment Formation Committee worked in partnership with our professional investment manager and nonprofit attorneys to recommend the following endowment and investment policies, approved by the LPIE Board of Directors.

Meet the LPIE Endowment leadership.

The Endowment campaign was only possible with the guidance, insight, and passion of the following volunteers. Thank you!

Message from the Co-chairs.

Dear Neighbor,

We are so grateful to live in a place that prioritizes our students and values public education. LPIE was founded more than 40 years ago by dedicated parents and community members wanting to protect access to arts and sciences education. Today we are thrilled to invite you to build a legacy for generations to come through the LPIE Endowment campaign.

Today, LPIE supports students at all six Lafayette public schools in areas including mental health services; exploration through electives such as robotics, woodshop, performing and visual arts, and world languages; and classroom support in math, sciences, reading, and more.

As the needs of our students and educators continues to evolve, so does the need for LPIE’s support. Our public schools need a long-term solution to the challenges caused by inconsistent funding provided by the state. The endowment will serve as a permanent fund to enhance and stabilize the future of LPIE's annual contribution to the Lafayette School District and Acalanes High School.

We invite you to join us in starting this movement and demonstrating our collective dedication to our students, educators, and schools! This is about more than the dollars raised; it is about coming together as a community.

The most important contribution the endowment will make is not the millions of dollars granted; it is ensuring that generations of students have the resources and opportunities to thrive — today, tomorrow, and beyond!
